Support Ravinia’s Steans Institute

Since 1988, Ravinia’s Steans Institute has been committed to supporting the next generation of classical and jazz musicians through its high-quality, tuition-free professional studies programs. In order to attain the next level in their professional careers, musicians benefit from learning from distinguished faculty, collaborating with peers, and performing for audiences. Steans provides a unique, nurturing space for artistic professional development each summer to an international group of young professional artists.

Steans musicians each receive a fellowship, covering the expenses incurred to participate in a life-changing summer of immersive, musical development. It is because of the generosity of the institute’s dedicated donors that these programs continue to be offered free of charge to all participants. Support for Steans covers instructional costs as well as room and board for fellows.

Ways to Give

Please support the residencies of the talented musicians at Steans and the concerts they present by making a tax-deductible gift to the institute. Ravinia Annual Fund benefits are available to Steans donors, and could include early access to upcoming season information, early notification of Ravinia Festival tickets, parking benefits, and early entry into the park.

Gifts at any level are welcomed and may be designated for the Program for Jazz, Program for Piano & Strings, Program for Singers, or general support. An annual gift of $10,000 fully supports one fellowship, and $5,000 supports a half fellowship. Other opportunities to support Steans include concert sponsorship and giving to the endowment.

The Steans Institute relies on its endowment for approximately 65% of its funding. A gift or bequest of $300,000 to the endowment can be designated to provide a full fellowship every year, and $150,000 provides a half fellowship. In certain cases, planned gifts can be recognized as fellowships during the donor’s lifetime.
